Bachelor of Social Work

I am a Counsellor and Social Worker with 5+ years experience working alongside children, adolescents, young adults and their families to navigate the challenges that life can bring. My area of expertise and passion is with children, adolescents and young adults.

My own personal journey with grief, loss, tragedy and mental health has shaped me to be an empathetic, warm and person-centred counsellor. I take a therapeutic approach that is culturally sensitive, strengths-based and tailored to the needs, goals and hopes of the individual. Additionally I love to connect with parents and educate and equip them with tools to better support their children through the struggles they are facing.

My previous work experience:
- Counsellor and Social Worker in schools
- Facilitated specialised group programmes with varying ages and challenges
- Mentored teenagers and young adults
- Provided educational trainings for schools and churches
- Worked within multidisciplinary teams to support individuals and families

On a personal note, I grew up in Wellington and moved to Auckland in my late teenage years. I love spending time with friends and family, drinking cups of tea, going for walks and runs and doing anything creative. I am a wife and mother of two young ones and am going to be completing my Masters in counselling in the next few years.

My approach

I use a range of therapeutic methods within my counselling practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Psychoeducation, Play Therapy, Sand Tray, Talk Therapy and Christian Counselling dependent on the needs and wants of the client.
